Contrary to unsubstantiated reports circulating on the internet, Access Bank Plc has declared that the bank is not involved in launching a Bitcoin bank or launching a cryptocurrency product.
A management statement has kept the financial institution away from the information disseminated by his fictitious website.
This article features a photograph of the CEO, Roosevelt Ogbonna, illegally downloaded from Access Bank’s social media pages.
The images were then manipulated to fit the misleading narrative advertised in the fake article.
“The quotes attributed to Mr. Ogbonna in the fabricated interview are also completely false,” the disclaimer reads. “For the record, Ogbonna never gave an interview about a Bitcoin bank or commented on the cryptocurrency business.
“Access Bank is fully committed to good practice in accordance with Nigerian law.”
The bank is working with authorities to investigate the sources of fake news and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice, according to a statement.
